National Parks
The Scenic Rim is home to six internationally significant world-heritage National Parks and the largest remaining tract of sub tropical ‘Gondwana’ rainforest in the world. These include Lamington NP, Mt Tamborine NP, Mt Barney, Mt French/Moogerah Peaks NP and Main Range NP.
These National Parks, with their abundant natural beauty and steep and rugged mountain ranges, put the scenic into the Scenic Rim. Wherever you go, you’ll chance upon a glimpse of our iconic Australian wildlife and some rare species of birdlife. There are numerous walks and lookouts to experience amongst these superb national parks.
Country Roads
For lovers of the country roads. You can meander through the farming district of Kalbar, Roadvale, Harrisville, Peak Crossing and Rosevale over rolling green hills and through historic townships. The spectacular rim of mountains is ever present in the distance.
In this region you are able to purchase some fresh farm produce from the farmgate, shop at antique shops, have an authentic Aussie meal at one of the town’s pubs or just enjoy the country hospitality that these little towns offer.
Wineries
Scenic Rim Wine Country starts just 15 minutes west of Ipswich. The Scenic Rim is one of the fastest growing wine tourism regions in Queensland, and its rich volcanic soils are producing premium wines which are making their mark on state and national wine shows.
The Scenic Rim Wine Trail threads from one end of the area to the other, with seven wineries along the trail.
